The Western Province Sports Council fully supports the statements:
· “The proposed South African Coaching Framework would run from 2010-2018 with the vision of creating an effective, inclusive and cohesive coaching system that promotes transformation in an active and winning nation”.
· “Sport coaching has a key role to play in delivering transformation, as well as an active and winning nation. Coaches provide positive experiences in sport for millions of South Africans every year. Through their work, coaches recruit and retain participants to support the mass participation agenda and they provide the guidance necessary for athletes to progress to performance and high performance levels.”

On 2 February 2011, the Western Province Coaches Commission Meeting was facilitate by Elton Davies at the University of the Western Cape. The well attended meeting included presentations. The sessions were interactive and well received. At the next meeting there will be elections for positions on the Western Province Coaches Commission. On 30 June 2011 SASCOC will be reviewing, in Cape Town, the progress of the Western Cape Coaches Commission.
The Meeting was addressed by the Western Cape Chief Director Sport & Recreation Adv Lyndon Bouah, Elton Davies, Dr Gerhard Jordaan and Mary Ann Dove. Also in attendance was over 40 people from various Federations and Sporting Bodies as well as representive from the Western Province Sports Council.
